| Duties | BISHPETS is an animal assisted therapy and animal assisted activity (AAA/AAT) pet visitation program. A team consists of a handler and one pet. (This must be the handler's own pet or a pet that is well known to them with the written permission of the owner.) Dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, llamas, horses and other pets may be suitable. Teams who pass the evaluation may choose from various Brain Injury Services locations Southern Ontario or read with children at the Paws for Reading literacy assistance program at the Hamilton Central Library. | |||
| Benefits | Rewarding position for handler and enjoyable for confident, sociable pet. Teams work with clients at many different levels of cognitive and physical ability, for example, friendly visits, literacy assistance (Paws for Reading at Hamilton Public Library) or therapeutic depending on handler's comfort level and team's overall score. | |||

| Dates and Times | AAA/AAT visit times at Brain Injury Services locations are very flexible depending on the team's availability. Paws for Reading (Hamilton Public Library) is only on Tuesday evenings as posted on the Hamilton Public Library website. | |||

| Cost | Evaluation is free. Proof of annual veterinary care is required. Please email for a booklet on what to expect during the evaluation.
