Duties

* To drive program participants to medical and rehabilitation appointments, driving Red Cross vehicles.
* To uphold the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

Wednesday: Morning, Afternoon
Thursday: Morning, Afternoon
Friday: Morning, Afternoon

We are seeking individuals that are available once a week or once every two weeks for approximately four hours. You can inform us what days are best suitable for you and if you prefer either morning or afternoon. This program is available Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.

Commitment Length

Long Term (more than 12 months) ; This is an on-going program so the commitment length is entirely up to the individual. We prefer a commitment of a year.

Training

Orientation ; * Branch orientation.
* Program orientation with an experienced volunteer.
* Emergency First Aid Course for volunteers driving branch vehicles, optional for volunteers that wish to drive their own vehicles.

Transportation

On Bus Route ; Drivers Licence Required ; * Class 'G' Drivers Licence required with two years driving experience.
* Must be willing to drive to the branch to pick up Red Cross vehicles.

Interaction Level

One-on-one ; Small Group ; Must interact with clients, staff and fellow volunteers.

Skills/Experience

* Valid Class 'G' drivers license and safe driving record.
* Be a safe and courteous driver.
* Understand the importance of participant confidentiality.
* Have a genuine interest and understanding of a diverse clientele.

Additional Requirements

All individuals wishing to participate in this program will have an interview, must provide three references and have a Police Criminal Records Search and Ministry of Transportation driving record (drivers abstract) completed; Red Cross will provide drivers abstract.
