Foundations and other funding organizations that provide monetary support which recipient agencies and institutions may use to cover the cost of the analysis and clinical trials components of research projects including demonstration and pilot programs.
Programs that conduct studies which evaluate the potential environmental effects of development projects including annexations, incorporation, subdivision, zoning, rezoning and other actions; and prepare reports documenting their findings. An environmental impact assessment discusses the proposed project, its environmental setting, its probable impacts (e.g., on traffic, schools, fire protection, endangered species, archeological artifacts and community beauty), realistic means of reducing or eliminating those impacts, its cumulative effects, and alternatives to the project. The report may be prepared by the local planning department (or other agency with the principal responsibility for issuing permits to a project) or it may contract for the work to be completed under its direction.
Programs that are responsible for collecting, tabulating, presenting and analyzing statistics which relate to the activities of agencies, businesses and other organizations that are part of a particular service sector or industry. Sector categories group similar types of organizations based on what they do, e.g., the types of services they provide, the raw materials they process or the products they manufacture. Statistical reports may be national, provincial or local in scope.
Programs that are involved in the investigation, collection and analysis of data in the areas of program planning, development, administration and/or evaluation; or those which relate to specific technical facets of operation including board development, conference planning, credentialing, ethics, facility administration, financial management, fundraising, human resources management, information technology management, legal decision making, marketing, networking/relationship building and/or public relations with the objective of advancing our knowledge in the area of organizational development and management, understanding the problems which confront nonprofit organizations and other groups and finding solutions to specific organizational issues.
