| Description | The Canadian Association of Family Resource Programs (FRP Canada) provides leadership to a vibrant network of family support agencies across Canada * FRP Canada is a bilingual, not-for-profit association with members located in all provinces and territories * FRP Canada offers resources and support to family resource programs and related services that in turn reach hundreds of thousands of families through the various services they offer * Its various activities include: * National projects to conduct research and produce resources for the field * Regional professional development events * Electronic Quarterly newsletter, Play and Parenting * Online e-Valuation system for its members * Biennial national conference * Web sites for practitioners and for parents Family resource programs in Canada are voluntary, not-for-profit, community-level organizations supporting families through services that include information, referrals, networking and material assistance. They reflect the needs and circumstances of the families and communities they serve and are known by a variety of different names depending on their geographical location and history (e.g. Ontario Early Years Centre, Best Start Hub, Maison de la famille, Neighbourhood House, Parent/Parent-Child Resource Centre). In addition to family resource programs, FRP Canada's members include other organizations that work with families such as child care programs, early intervention programs, community health centres, child protection agencies, Aboriginal family organizations, public health departments and national organizations with an interest in children and families. | |||
