| Description | The Family Responsibility Office (FRO) administers and enforces support orders which contain child and/or spousal support provisions. It also administers and enforces the support provisions of domestic contracts and paternity agreements that are filed with the court. FRO's role is to ensure that support payments flow properly from payers (people who make support payments) to recipients (people who receive them). When possible, FRO will arrange for the payer's employer or other income source to deduct the support payments from the payer's income. FRO has the legal authority to collect support payments, and, if necessary, to take enforcement action in order to recover support that is owed. Enforcement measures used to collect outstanding support payments include: * intercepting the defaulting payer's income tax refund * reporting the debt to the credit bureau * suspending the defaulting payer's driver's licence * taking the matter to court. There is an agreement with most of the states in the United States and several countries, and all of the Canadian provinces, to enforce Ontario court orders when the payer resides outside Ontario. Payment Mailing Address: To send support payments directly to FRO, mail a cheque or money order to: Family Responsibility Office, Box 2204, Stn P, Toronto, Ontario, M5S 3E9 | ||
