DescriptionThe Suicide Prevention Community Council of Hamilton is not a counselling service, rather the Council provides education, referrals, and workshops to enhance networking and communication within the community

Training programs include:
* Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) - provides practical suicide training for all types of caregivers by learning how to recognize opportunities to help, assess the risk of suicide, apply a suicide intervention model and practice skills
* safeTALK - program is designed to ensure that persons with thoughts of suicide are connected to helpers who are prepared to provide first aid interventions. safeTALK is designed to be used in organizations and communities where there are already ASIST trained caregivers. Suicide alert helpers are part of a suicide-safer community.
* suicideCare - is a one day, clinically-oriented course for frontline and professional caregivers who work with persons at risk of suicide on a longer term basis. ASIST is a prerequisite.
