DescriptionThe LGBTQ Community Wellness Centre is dedicated to improving the health and wellness of the LGBTQ Community in the City of Hamilton * Wellness encompasses the emotional, mental, spiritual, physical, social and sexual health of the LGBTQ community of Hamilton * The centre is committed to celebrating and promoting the values and principles of anti-oppression 
 
The mission of the LGBTQ Community Wellness Centre of Hamilton is to create an inclusive and safe space for the LGBTQ community in Hamilton through the provision of services, programs, and resources using an anti-oppressive framework. Long term priorities of the Centre include: 
 
* Recreation and programming: peer support, youth drop-in, support network, discussion forum, activities for families and parents 
* Advocacy: community capacity building, education and awareness surrounding sexuality and sexual health, homophobia, transphobia and heterosexism, training and workshops for general service providers 
* Counselling: in a range of areas including the development and support of a crisis line, support groups or one-on-one support networks 
* Information and referral services: primary health, setting up partnerships with other services to have a permanent link for making necessary referrals 
* Training: LGBTQ positive space awareness workshops facilitated by experienced community members; Trans 101, an introductory workshop; both workshops provide valuable information to service providers and organizations who want to provide better service to their LGBTQ clients and staff; call to arrange 
 
The Well facilitates various peer support groups and social groups for members. Groups are open to new members and you do not have to contact The Well before you come. Groups meet regularly at various locations throughout the city. Refer to the website for details about meeting locations and times: 
 
* RADAR: Youth Social Drop-in Night (every Friday, 7-9 PM) 
* Trans Peer Support Group  
* Lesbian & Bi Women Peer Support Group  
* Lesbian & Bi Men Peer Support Group  
* Running Group
