Description & Services
DescriptionExperience the exciting world of engineering! No textbooks or tests necessary. The Learning Enrichment Advancement Program introduces high school students to the fundamentals of engineering through lectures, hands-on activities, labs, industry tours & projects. The program incorporates activities that will develop leadership skills, ingenuity, creativity, and perseverance in combination with technical knowledge, enabling students to create solutions to multifaceted problems. LEAP focuses on expanding students' knowledge in an exciting and creative learning environment unlike any high school classroom. The students will be exposed to university life and learn what it truly means to be an engineer

LEAP is open to all Canadian and International students entering into grades 9 to 1st year university. Students can choose from 4 course options: Introduction to Engineering (open to students in grades 9 and 10), Bioengineering (grades 10, 11, 12), Engineering Design (grades 10, 11, 12), and Engineering Technology (grades 10, 11, 12)

Students have the choice of attending the program for 2, 4 or 6 weeks, and can choose up to 3 different courses. As well, students can choose to stay in an on-campus residence, and participate in after-class activities such as visiting some of the attractions in Hamilton and the surrounding areas.

LEAP now offers 2 credit course options, HEADSTART 1C03 & 1P03 for students going into 1st year of Engineering at McMaster. This will help reduce their course load for 1st year, give them a chance to interact closely with McMaster Engineering professors, and give them a taste of what McMaster Engineering is really like.

LEAP looks forward to meeting a new group of students who bring with them a keen interest in engineering, problem solving, and teamwork.
