| Description | Private Well Water Testing Well water sample bottles, instructions, and forms are available at most Health Department Offices, at City Hall, all Municipal Service Centres (i.e. former municipal offices) and the Public Health Lab. There are additional water sample bottle pick-up locations in the community. Filled water sample bottles cannot be returned to these locations. Please visit the Safe Water website at www.hamilton.ca/safewater for more information. This service is only for drinking water samples from private households supplied with water from a private well. Water samples from regulated drinking water systems (city water, daycare centres, or group homes) cannot be tested via this service. City Water and pond water cannot be tested. Water samples must be returned within 24 hours (after sampling and kept refrigerated - not frozen) to the Public Health offices, City Hall, Municipal Service Centres, or Public Health Laboratory listed below * Public Health Offices Samples ONLY accepted Monday - Thursday - 1 Hughson St N, 3rd Flr, Hamilton - 1447 Upper Ottawa St, Hamilton - 2 King St E, Dundas * City Hall and Municipal Service Centres Samples ONLY accepted Monday - Thursday at: - City Hall, 71 Main Street West Hamilton - Ancaster - 300 Wilson St E, Ancaster - Dundas - 60 Main St, Dundas - Flamborough - 7 Innovation Drive (Hwy 5 & Hwy 6), - Glanbrook - 4280 Binbrook Rd, Glanbrook - Stoney Creek - 777 Hwy 8, Stoney Creek * Public Health Laboratory Samples can be returned on all weekdays 8:30am - 4:30pm to the Public Health Laboratory at 250 Fennell Ave W Hamilton During the Christmas Holidays (until the first business day in January) water samples will not be accepted at City Hall, the Municipal Service Centres, or Public Health Offices. Call the Public Health Ontario lab to verify Holiday hours - 905-385-5379. All municipal water is tested regularly. Test results are posted in Libraries and Municipal Service Centres, and available at www.hamilton.ca/water, click the Drinking Water tab. Water samples should be kept refrigerated and returned within 24 hours of being sampled Public Beach Water Safety This department is responsible for testing the water at local swimming beaches. Beach conditions are available through the Safe Water Hotline 905-546-2189 or visit the Safe Water website at www.hamilton.ca/safewater for updates on beach water quality. | |||
