DescriptionThe Office of the City Clerk is responsible for a variety of corporate, administrative and legislative functions putting it in continual contact with all municipal departments, elected officials, other levels of government and the general public * The City of Hamilton's Office of the City Clerk is responsible for the following services: 
 
* Provides legislative support to Committee and Council 
* Records Council and Committee proceedings and maintaining the official records of the City of Hamilton (by-laws, agendas, minutes, and agreements) 
* Coordinates all requests received under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act 
* Administers the Provincial Offences Court 
* Provides information about Birth Registrations  
* Registers deaths 
* Issues marriage licences 
* Coordinates the conduct of municipal elections every four years 
* Serves as a general information office with respect to a broad range of inquiries from the public 
* Processes official correspondence to and from Council 
* Internal print and mail services 
* Application forms to obtain copies of birth, death and marriage certificates
