| Description | Hamilton Artists Incorporated is a registered non-profit charitable organization whose mandate is to be an artist-run centre committed to the presentation, dissemination and support of contemporary visual arts practice in Canada * Main goals and artistic objectives of the centre include: * Seeking to reflect the concerns of emerging and mid-career artists within the context of both a national and regional discourse * Presenting a diverse range of multidisciplinary programming with a primary focus on emerging aesthetics in contemporary art - including installation, sculpture, painting, drawing, print, time-based and new media * Producing a publication or catalogue for each main gallery presentation, 6 to 8 per year, which is disseminated across the country The organization was founded in 1975, the Hamilton Artists' Co-op was initiated as an arena for artists to exhibit artwork and meet with peers to promote art production in the City of Hamilton The organization pays CARFAC recommended professional artist fees for all of the selected and curated exhibitions and presentations, and is a recommender gallery for the Ontario Arts Council's Materials Assistance Program. The Organization acknowledges the continued support of the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council, the City of Hamilton and its vital membership. The organization does not have meeting rooms or space for rent. | |||
