| Description | New Choices offers a one-stop setting for pregnant and parenting women/teens with substance use concerns, and their children ages 0-6. Services for women include assessment, treatment and referral and both individual and group counselling concerning substance use.Outreach services are also provided to mothers and children. Services for women also include prenatal and postnatal education, and general wellness. Parenting education and support is provided both individually and in group format as well as through interactive play between mother and child. Services for children include individualized therapeutic play programs that promote physical, social, and emotional development, developmental screening and assessment, and speech and language services. Children have access to early identification, assessment and intervention services. By locating a team of staff from a range of services at one site, a woman/teen can receive assessment of her own needs and those of her children and support in her parenting efforts. Bus tickets and food vouchers are available. | |||
