DescriptionThe Geriatric Psychiatry Program at St. Joseph's West 5th Campus provides acute mental health services for older individuals with: 
 
* Behavioural/psychiatric mental health problems associated with cognitive impairment  
* Late onset psychiatric illness  
* Longstanding psychiatric disorders with age-complicated dysfunction  
* Medical and functional impairment with associated psychiatric and behavioural dysfunction  
* Alcohol and substance misuse  
* Families/caregivers who provide care

* Outreach services  
* Education of care providers  
* Ongoing program development  
* Evaluation and research of health services and policy development

Those seniors who are under the age of 65 who have an age related cognitive decline are eligible for service. Referring sources are pleased asked to call the unit or the community program if there are any questions about our services or eligibility.
