| Description | The Hamilton Housing Help Centre is a non profit social service agency providing free information, assistance, advocacy and support to people who need housing, especially people with low incomes and people who are homeless or in danger of becoming homeless. The Hamilton Housing Help Centre provides families or individuals with the following supports: * Daily listings of available housing units * Listings of public, non-profit and co-operative housing programs * Application forms for assisted housing * Listings and applications of government housing for seniors * Information on emergency shelters for men and women * Information on programs of interest to landlords and tenants * A housing search work area with phones * A free listing service, for landlords and property managers to list vacant rooms, apartments and homes * Listings and a brief description of Residential Care Facilities * Basic information and referrals on the Tenant Protection Act * Maintains an up-to-date directory of housing units which are accessible to disabled persons This organization specializes in addressing the housing needs of Hamiltonians. As such, the HHC provides three specialized programs which include: Housing Emergency Loan Program (HELP) * this program assists tenants facing homelessness * tenants can apply for a HELP loan to recieve financial assistance for last month's rent * if a tentant's application is approved, the outstanding rent is paid directly to the landlord on behalf of the tenant Local Legal Clinics * these clinics provide legal advice and services to individuals or families facing eviction * this program is provided one location Bed Bug Initiative Housing Help Centre is a participating agency of the Ontario Rent Bank Network. | |||

| Languages | English ; Interpretive Services ; The Language Interpretation Service is: A telephone-based interpretation service which provides interpreters over the telephone in over 100 languages. The caller simply needs to identify their language and wait approximately 2 minutes to have the interpreter join the call. The caller will receive up-to-date tenancy information through an interpreter. | |||
