| Description | The clinic is a tertiary level respiratory care unit providing a full range of consulting, diagnostic, therapeutic and educational services both on an inpatient and outpatient basis * The Unit also provides long-term ambulatory care for patients with severe chronic respiratory disease * Services include: * Full service Pulmonary Function Laboratory * Outpatient Clinics include Allergy and Adverse Reactions, Alveolitis, Asthma, Chronic Respiratory Care, General Respiratory, and Occupational Asthma * Patient Education program Formally known as the Firestone Regional Chest & Allergy Unit, the Institute is the Regional Referral Centre for Respirology and is made up of specialists who assess and treat diseases that affect the lungs. This group includes: * Doctors (respiratory medicine specialists, allergists and thoracic surgeons) * Nurses who have extra training in respiratory illness and education * Technologists and Respiratory Care Practitioners who are skilled in performing tests to assess the respiratory system * Researchers who are exploring diseases of the lungs, such as asthma, COPD and lung cancer * Students in all health care fields | |||
