DescriptionCompassionate Tax Appeals for the current year only, they will not help someone who is in tax arrears * This program is to help someone past hard times due to illness or extreme poverty * There is also a Deferral Program for disabled and seniors with a limited income and a Seniors Rebate Program. 
 
All applications made due to "extreme poverty or illness" are heard by the Assessment Review Board. The Regional Registrar's office for the Assessment Review Board will mail a Notice of Hearing to the person outlining the date, place and time when an appeal will be heard. A form must be filled in and returned to the address above (envelopes should be marked PRIVATE AND CONFIDENTIAL). 
 
If requesting a reduction due to sickness it is necessary to have a physician complete "Attending Physician's Statement" form.
