| Description | Rapid Response is a short-term consultation service provided to preschool programs by the 0-6 Home Based Clinicians from the outpatient team * The program provides a short-term intervention to childcare centres that are struggling to manage the behaviour of a preschool child, who is at risk of losing his/her placement * The goal of the service is to support the staff so that the child's placement can be a success. The service is designed to meet the needs of a preschool program that is struggling to manage the behaviour of a specific child * This consultation service includes initial meetings with the staff, problem solving and planning, completion of a treatment plan and report, and time limited consultation intervention. Goals may include: * Empowering the staff working day to day with the challenges of diverse children * Understanding and encouraging child development * Fostering a better understanding of the child's needs and developing a plan to cope with difficult behaviours * Encouraging staff self-care and coping skills * Assisting preschool in accessing information about supports and resources In order to work most effectively, the collaboration between the preschool staff and the Rapid Response 0-6 therapist is important. Through this collaboration we will support the staff who are working with a child who is at risk of losing their placement. We strongly encourage the support of other programs such as Setting the Stage, Raising the Bar and Affiliated Services for Children and Youth (ASCY) workshops be accessed prior to or in collaboration with this service. | |||
