DescriptionThe Healthy Living Division works with the community to build and promote opportunities for healthy lifestyle choices to be widely practiced and supported in Hamilton * A combination of health promotion and protection strategies are used to enhance knowledge and awareness, change behaviour and skills, and create environments that support healthy practices 
 
Services provided include: 
 
* A Healthy Communities Strategy that focuses on environmental and policy approaches to increase physical activity rates, healthy eating, tobacco use prevention, protection and cessation, and cancer prevention and screening within the context of the broader community 
 
* Health promotion in elementary and secondary schools, including classroom sessions, group sessions and consultation addressing various topics including: growth and development, substance abuse, injury prevention, violence prevention, chronic disease prevention and tobacco prevention 
 
* Falls prevention, impaired driving, cycling and pedestrian safety, substance misuse, bullying dating violence
