Description & Services
DescriptionChild and Family Support Workers help prevent children from coming into the care of the Society wherever possible, or support a return to a parent's care. They help parents learn new techniques in parenting without using physical discipline, and provide instruction in a supportive way in the areas of infant care and development, child management, family routines and nutrition. There are two in-home programs: the Parent Support Program working with parents of children ages 0-6, and the Family Management Program working with families of school age and adolescent children.

There is also an Access Program operating at the Society's offices. The Family Visit Program is responsible for safe and positive supervised visits between children and parents where children are living with foster or kinship families, Some families recieve on-site supervised therapeutic internvention from the Parent Support Program.

All of these services are only available to families open to ongoing services from the Society, and upon referral by the Child Protection Worker.

Child and Family Support Staff work with individual families in their homes, at the Society office and in the community and also partner with community agencies to offer parent education and parenting groups.
