DescriptionThe Legal Advocacy and Resource Centre for Women is a place where women who have experienced violence or abuse can find support and assistance in navigating through complicated and often difficult legal systems * The Legal Advocate program, established by Interval House of Hamilton in 1993, provides advocacy, support and education on legal rights and procedures, referrals, police, legal aid, family law, criminal law, immigration law and assistance in finding a lawyer * Accompaniment to any court proceeding is available and the person's safety and privacy are always a priority. 
 
The Legal Advocate offers: 
 
* Information (concerning criminal, family, and immigration law, Legal Aid, Duty Counsel, Domestic Violence Emergency Response System (DVERS), landlord/tenant, Children's Aid, Catholic Children's Aid, Ontario Works, Ontario Disability Support Program etc)  
* Support  
* Court accompaniment  
* Referrals (to lawyers and other community services)  
* Advocacy  
* Duty Counsel 
* Lunch 'N' Learn Legal Seminars - call for information and dates
HoursWomen's Centre Mon, Wed, Thu 9:30 am-4:30 pm * Tue 9:30 am-4:30pm * Fri 10 am-1 pm * Individual appointments may be available outside of regular office hours
