| Description | The Hamilton Regional Indian Centre is offering a prenatal education classes designed to enhance native education and fetal outcome * The program is offered in small groups and individual sessions stressing traditional native birthing methods as well as the current medical methods * Classes will consist of the following topics: * Nutrition * Alcohol/drugs/smoking * Stress management in pregnancy * Dealing with emotional and physical changes in pregnancy * Labour and delivery * Teaching for the high risk pregnancy * Teen pregnancy and parenting skills * Fathers roles in pregnancy and parenting * Breast feeding (support group in progress) * Post pregnancy care for infant and self (support group in progress) * One on one sessions available * Home and hospital visits arranged Prenatal program provides breastfeeding counselling, labour support, growth and development support, food vouchers, lunch or snack, and bus tickets.
