DescriptionNiwasa Early Years Centre provides a Drop In Program for Parents/Caregivers and their children 6 years and under. Families can enjoy interactive play experiences, exploration with toys, music, art, traditional story telling and various other activities to promote Early Literacy. 
 
Additional services include: 
* Aboriginal Toy Lending Library - Aboriginal books, cd's, toys, dvd's and parent resources are available for loan 
* Native Family Gathering Time - A staff from Niwasa will visit the Ontario Early Years Centres for tranditional story telling, singing and art 
* Aboriginal Education Outreach - A cultural facilitator will visit other sites to provide age appropriate, hands-on educational experiences through drumming, dancing and singing 
* "Check it out drop-in" - Community professionals will be available to meet with families with their children from newborn to age 6 to offer consultation, teaching and referral with respect to their child's development. Bring your questions about your child's development, behaviour, vision, nutritional needs, dental health and/or speech and language development. This is a free consultation and no appointment is required.  
 
This program presently participates in Raising the Bar. The presence of a Raising the Bar certificate is a sign that the program is committed to maintaining provincial regulatory standards as well as local community standards.
