Description & Services
DescriptionThe ICAA is a not-for-profit organization which introduces, promotes and preserves the artistic expressions, experiences and abilities of immigrant artists to enrich Canadian society. The organization recognizes the values, cultures, art, and contributions of immigrant artists and cultural workers in the Hamilton surrounding community.  
 
The ICAA makes a positive difference in the lives of newcomer and low-income artists in the Hamilton surrounding area by:  
 
* engaging them in activities, workshops and projects 
* facilitating their exhibitions and the marketing process of their art work 
* hosting community education programs that promote diversity and multiculturalism to achieve mutual respect, inclusiveness and participation in the cultural life of the society  
* mentoring the economic integration of artists into Hamilton's art and culture sector  
* providing subsidized professional art education programs for newcomer and low income youth  
 
The ICAA specializes in providing current and aspiring artists with the following programs:  
 
Professional Artist Mentorship Program (PAMP) 
* printing of business cards and/or brochures  
* assistance in purchasing art materials 
* professional evaluation of artists' portfolio  
* financial assistance for exhibitions, pending approval of the selection committee  
 
Professional Art Education (PAE) 
The Professional Art Education program provides art instruction to strengthen the following key areas:  
 
* sketching using traditional tools like pencil/eraser and charcoal  
* still life  
* landscape  
* using acrylics, watercolours and oil paints on canvas  
* proportions, the human body and scaling  
* pottery, glass painting, crafts  
 
Outdoor Hamilton Art Market 
* selected artists have an opportunity to display and sell their art work to art lovers in Hamilton 
* the HAM takes place every Saturday for two months during the summer 
* the HAM takes place at the International Village in Downtown Hamilton  
* in the past artists have exhibited and sold their paintings, prints, pottery and sculpture peices, jewellery, clothing, textiles, tapestries, stationary, photographs, cards and graffiti art
