DescriptionThe Children's Aid Society of Hamilton is a government funded agency with a non-profit Board of Directors serving children, adolescents and families. Services provided are determined by the Child and Family Services Act and include the following: 
 
* investigating allegations or evidence that children who are under the age of 16 years or are in the Society's care or under its supervision may be in need of protection 
* protecting, where necessary, children who are under the age of 16 years or are in the Society's care or under its supervision 
* providing guidance, counselling and other services to families for protecting children or for the prevention of circumstances requiring the protection of children 
* providing care for children assigned or committed to its care under the CFS Act 
* supervising children assigned to its supervision under the CFS Act 
* placing children for adoption under the CFS Act. 
* providing customized medical and dental services to all children in care through our in-house Medical/Dental Clinic 
* educating the public about their duty to report suspected child abuse or neglect and the role of the Society 
* recruiting, developing, training and supporting foster and adoptive homes 
* where appropriate, seeking out and supporting kin caregivers 
* fundraising to provide recreational, therapeutic and educational opportunities for children and youth in the Society's care.
