| Description | The Wellington Nursing Home is a 102 bed residence. Made up of 35 private suites, 8 semi-privates, and 14 ward accommodations plus one infirmary suite. The Wellington is licensed by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (LTC). The nursing home is fully accredited under the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation. It has been designed to promote a true "home", a sense of well-being and the enrichment of everyday life through activities of daily living, leisure activities, health and personal care. The home provides nursing and personal care to individuals who require LTC services. Prospective residents are chosen based on their request for admission, their individual needs and expectations, their compatibility with other residents in the centre and the ability of The Wellington to meet these individual needs. All resident admissions are in accordance with the process of the Hamilton Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) who refers to the waiting list and chooses a resident who meets the above criteria. The following are personal attention and services offered by us: * A secure unit and outdoor space for clients with cognitive impairments * Nursing and personal care on a 24-hour basis provided by registered nurses and practical nurses * House physician is available 24 hours a day * Supplies, equipment and devices necessary for the provision of medical, nursing and personal care * Rehabilitative services and some supplies and equipment * Three meals daily with snacks between meals, special and therapeutic diets, dietary supplements and assistive devices for self feeding * Social, recreation, and physical activities and programs including related supplies and equipment * Laundry including labelling, machine washing and drying * Social worker in-house provides support and information sessions for residents and families * Physiotherapy is available in-house and visits are twice weekly * Chiropody is provided monthly for a minimum fee, upon request * Dental services can be arranged in-house at a fee Additional services include: * Hair care * Vision care/optician * Optometrist/audiologist services * Dentist/denturist * Chiropodist * Phone setup and monthly fees * Cable setup and monthly fees * Attends/disposable diapers * Escort staff for appointments * Newspaper delivery * Tuck shop purchases | |||
